Director Mary Kirk and Eugenia Verdaguer, Chief of Academic Exchanges for the Western Hemisphere, both from the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, arrived in Santiago for a three day visit.
Celebration of Thanksgiving Day, held at the residence of Deputy Chief of Mission, Dale Eppler, gave them the opportunity to meet with Embassy authorities, Fulbright Directors and staff as well as US and Chilean Scholars from the Fulbright Program, run in Chile by Excutive Director, Antonio Campaña.
Their agenda also included meetings with Deputy Director for Overseas and Local Grants from CONICYT, Carlos Padilla; with Vicerrector Juan Larraín and Director of Internacional Relations, Fernando Alvarado at Universidad Católica de Chile in Santiago. Other meetings were organized with authorities from Universidad Católica in Valparaíso and Universidad Playa Ancha, near the coast, as well as with former Fulbrighters and Equal Opportunities (BIO) Scholarship grantees recently back after finishing their graduate studies in the United States.
