Hubert H. Humphrey Fellow 2016, Victor Ruiz (con barba y anteojos) is back in Chile after ending his program at Maxwell School, Syracuse University with a scholarship on public policies for education and teacher training. He has shared with us his reflections on that and other working experiencies as well as some of his counterparts´ views on his contribution to the host universities in the United States. Here is an extract of his thoughts on the matter…
“Finally, our project consisted in to evaluate the SUNY Oswego School of Education Master of Science for Teachers, Childhood, and Adolescence. The results we obtained will help improve some relevant aspects of the teaching training preparation. The program has, already, a strong core of excellence and community recognition. I hope my help, the data collected and the conclusions will serve for maintaining those standards and the impact of the future cohorts in their students and school communities.
Working with the team has been a truly learning experience, in both directions, and a strong exchange of professional and personal perspectives, practical knowledge and deep beliefs on education. I am leaving Syracuse genuinely satisfied and with the energy for continuing this collaboration between SUNY Oswego, Marcia’s department and the Aptus Chile, which will be my next professional challenge, as deputy director of Academic and Research.”…says Victor Ruiz , Fulbright – Hubert. H. Humphrey Fellow .”
His counterpart, Marcia Burrell, PhD Professor and Chair Curriculum and Instruction Department at State University of New York College at Oswego also shared some comments on his contribution and collaborative work: “… Your diligence and your expertise made it so that we have a chance to improve our program based on solid data. You collected qualitative and quantitative data that helps me understand how to improve our MST programs… Congratulations on accepting your new position. I am certain that you will be productive in anything you do, primarily because of your organized approach and because of your personality which helps us all see how we can collaborate.”
