At his first Fulbright Commission board meeting, Cultural Attaché at the USA Embassy, Dave Fogelson, was greeted by Antonio Campaña, Executive Director and members of the board: Beatriz Corbo, Carlos Portales, Kimberly Gillen, Katheleen Whitlock and Chris Smith.
Dave Fogelson from Chicago, where he was born and raised, holds a Master of Public Policy degree from the Harvard Kennedy School and a Bachelor’s in biology from the University of Evansville. After college, Dave served in Peace Corps El Salvador’s agroforestry program and then recruited for Peace Corps in California.
Fogelson joined the Foreign Service in 2007 and his first destination was Lima, Perú, where he led a team working in searching and providing assistance to American survivors after the disastrous epicenter of the 2007 8.0 earthquake. He served in Washington for a year as an analyst at the Intelligence and Research Watch and then in Kabul as the Deputy Press Officer overseeing the international communications strategy used by the White House and other heads of state, for the first round of the 2014 presidential elections.
Fogelson´s last post was in Rio de Janeiro Dave where he was the U.S. Government Spokesperson during the Olympics and Paralympics. Together with handling press during various Rio crises, he created and executed the #USinRio campaign which reached hundreds of millions worldwide around traditional and digital media with viral content. He is also an avid surfer, gardener, and musician.
