Professor Jennifer Hayward, Co-editor, Nineteenth Century Studies and Co-Chair and Professor of English at College of Wooster is back in Chile invited by Universidad Católica de Valparaíso. Back in September 2016, as a Fulbright US Scholar, she spent several months investigating the influence of Scotland in our country since the 1820s.

This time, Professor Hayward is here for as a short term visiting to participate in three different academic events that will be held in Valparaíso and Santiago, this August:

• August 16: “El Legado británico en Valparaíso” to be held at Catedral Anglicana St. Paul´s at Cerro Concepción in Valparaíso.
• August 17: At Campus Sausalito de Universidad Católica de Valparaíso where she will expose at the “Seminario y Workshop de Humanidades Digitales.”
• August 18: At “Converstario: Maria Graham y la literatura de viaje en Chile” at sede Universidad de Valparaíso in Santiago.

During her past Fulbright experience she worked hard digging in the two centuries of transcultural travel, migration and exchange and cooperation between the two cultures, as it is known tha the British Empire´s colonialism reached also the coasts of Brasil and Chile around the 1820s. “Naval Captain Thomas Cochrane is just a sample of this.
