Contract Design for a Demand Response Management System in Chañaral

  • Project Proposal

-To learn about and support research in smart grid technology, with the particular vision of helping Chile take advantage of its enormous capacity for solar energy.

    -To learn optimization techniques.

-To work on/develop research-oriented simulation tools

As someone lacking some prior experience in the energy space, I’ve taken some time for «onboarding.» But recently I’ve begun to make contributions to the excellent work my lab does. The paper I’m working on with Professor Olivares will constitute a significant step forward in the body of knowledge regarding the operation of microgrid systems, particularly for enabling microgrid systems consisting of disparate agents. In addition, I’ve begun to contribute to one of the leading tools for power system expansion planning with respect to the Chilean case. I hope to continue to contribute more and more.

    Final Report

I worked with my collaborators at PUC on the initial phases of a project whose results we plan to submit for publication in a peer-reviewed academic journal. The facilities and materials made available to me by PUC through my relationship with my collaborators were more than adequate for the work we did. We successfully reached the point of the project where one of our collaborators could take over primary responsibility from myself.
